Best Rooftop Views in Prague and Where to Find Them

Praha (Prague in Czech!) is one of the most gorgeous and photogenic cities in the world. Popular for its terracotta-colored rooftop and for its gothic and baroque architecture, Prague is best viewed from above. Luckily, there are a lot of viewpoints where you can get a gorgeous panorama of the whole city’s skyline. If you want to enjoy a bird’s eye view of Praha but don’t want to climb hundreds of stairs and end up being disappointed, this article is for you! I have been living in Prague for more than 5 years and compiled the ultimate list of all the rooftop views in the city. So here are my top rooftop views in Praha. Let’s get started!

In a hurry? Pin this post for later!

1 • Powder Tower

The Powder Tower is one of the original city gates located next to Náměstí Republiky. For 90 CZK you can go on top of the tower and check out the Old Town views. Though the climb up the spiral staircase is a little steep and exhausting, the views are absolutely worth it. Go there during sunset to capture the magic of the city!

The Powder Tower is open every day from 10 AM until 6 PM from November to February, until 8 PM in March & October or until 10 PM from April to September.

Location: nám. Republiky 5, 110 00 Staré Město

2 • Coda Restaurant

Located inside the Aria Hotel, Coda Restaurant is in the heart of Malá Strana, on the west bank of the Vltava River. During the summer, you can enjoy the rooftop terrace with stunning views of Prague before heading to the Vrtba Gardens for a romantic stroll.

The Coda Restaurant’s terrace is open every day from 12 PM to 11 PM only from April until the end of October.

Location: Tržiště 368/9, 118 00 Malá Strana

3 • Vrtba Garden

Right next to Coda Restaurant you can go check out Vrtbovská zahrada or Vrtba Garden in English, which is one of the most beautiful Baroque gardens in the city and a true hidden gem. There is an entrance fee of 80 CZK (or 70 CZK if you are a student). The best time to visit is Spring or Fall!

4 • Old Town Hall Tower

The Old Town Hall Tower is one of the most gorgeous buildings in Prague. It offers panoramic views of Old Town but can get really busy so I advise you to get there early. Inside the tower, you can either climb the staircase or go up the elevator. It costs 250 CZK to get to the top and this entrance fee also includes Old Town Hall’s underground, historical halls and the Chapel of the Virgin Mary.

The Old Town Hall Tower is open every day. On Monday, it opens from 11 AM until 10 PM, and from Tuesday to Sunday, it is open from 9 AM until 10 PM.

5 • Klementinum’s Astronomical Tower

The Klementinum is a gorgeous library that hosts some of the oldest books on earth. It is also home to the Astronomical Tower. You can climb all the way there and enjoy 360° views of the city. It is, according to me, one of the most incredible viewpoints in all of Prague! It costs 380 CZK to get in or 200 CZK if you are a student.

The Klementinum’s opening hours depend on the day and month. You can look them up here.

Located close to the Prague Castle, the Villa Richter overlooks the city and offers amazing views of the Vltava River, Old Town, and New Town. The Villa features three fancy restaurants, Piano Nobile, Piano Terra and Panorama Pergola (the latest being closed during winter time). All of those feature spacious terraces and splendid views. It is better to book a table in advance if you want to eat there and enjoy the pretty rooftop views.

The Villa Richter opens every day from 11 AM until 11 PM.

Location: Staré zámecké schody 6/251, 118 00 Hradčany

7 • The Dancing House’s Glass Bar

Located in the unique Dancing House building, the Glass Bar offers stunning views of Prague Castle and the National Theater. Located on the top floor, it has a lovely rooftop terrace. To get there, take the elevator to the 7th floor, do not go to the restaurant on the left but climb the few steps up to the bar. Keep in mind that you can only access it if you purchase something at the bar or if you pay a fee.

The Dancing House’s Glass Bar is opened every day from 10 AM until midnight.

Location: Staré zámecké schody 6/251, 118 00 Hradčany

8 • Old Town Bridge Tower

The Old Town Bridge Tower (Staroměstská mostecká věž in Czech) is the gateway to the Charles Bridge. It was built with the bridge by Emperor Charles IV in the mid-14th century. You can climb up to the viewing gallery to enjoy one of the most incredible viewpoints in the entire city, overlooking the Vltava river, the bridge, and the Prague castle (see photo on the left). The entry fee is 100 CZK or 70 CZK if you are a student.

10 • Terasa U Zlaté Studně

Terasa U Zlaté Studně is an award-winning restaurant that, you get it, offers amazing rooftop views of Prague. It is located in one of the oldest hotels in the city, Golden Well which is located in Malá Strana, super close to Coda restaurant which I mentioned above. It is pretty pricey but delicious. The views and food make it one of the best places to check out in Prague so, book your spot in advance!

The terrace is opened every day all year round from 11 AM until 4 PM and from 6 PM until 11 PM.

Location: U Zlaté studně 166/4, 118 00 Malá Strana

11 • Terasa T-Anker

Located on Republic Square (Náměstí Republiky), Terasa T-Anker is still not that popular among tourists compared to Terasa U Prince. It’s a good place to come for a drink while watching the sunset but if you come for dinner, don’t expect to be amazed. However, they have a good beer menu that they apparently change every week!

The terrace is opened every day from 11 AM until 11 PM (May-August) and from 11 AM until 10 PM (September-April).

12 • Terasa U Prince

Terasa U Prince is the most iconic rooftop restaurant in Prague because it’s directly facing the clock tower and provides incomparable views of Old Town. From the rooftop, you get an incredibly beautiful 360-degree view of the whole city. Apparently, they have really good international-cuisine gourmet dishes but I only ever got cocktails and hot wines at Terasa U Prince. The prices were quite expensive, but hey you pay for the view right? Victim of its success, it is always busy, especially during the summer but the views over the orange rooftops and the whole city are absolutely worth it. The best time to visit is during sunset or right when the restaurant opens at 11 AM.

Terasa U Prince’s terrace is opened every day from 11 AM until 11:30 PM.
Location: Staroměstské nám. 29, 110 00 Staré Město

13 • Palace Gardens under Prague Castle

Palácové zahrady pod Pražským hradem, or Palace Gardens under Prague Castle in English, are a complex of layered gardens located below Prague Castle. They aren’t as popular as the castle itself and offer incredible views over the city’s rooftops! You have to pay 100 CZK or 70 CZK if you are a student to visit them.

14 • Duplex

Duplex is a restaurant and club built on the top floors of a building on Wenceslas Square, in the center of Prague. Designed as a giant glass cube, you can have lunch or dinner there before seeing the place transform into a fancy club at 10 PM.

The views over the square from the restaurant’s terrace are quite unique so it is worth checking it out.

Location: Václavské nám. 831/21, 110 00 Nové Město

15 • Petřín Lookout Tower

The Petřín Lookout Tower is a steel tower that overlooks the city of Prague. It is a loose copy of the Eiffel Tower but on a much smaller scale because it is only 60 meters high. Fun fact; actually, its location on the Petřín hill allows it to reach an altitude comparable to that of the Eiffel Tower!

The Petřín Lookout Tower is opened every day all year round. The opening hours vary depending on the month; 10 AM until 6 PM (November to February), 10 AM until 8 PM (March & October), and 10 AM until 10 PM (April to September).

17 • Restaurant Zlatá Praha

Zlatá Praha is a gorgeous rooftop restaurant located on the ninth floor of the InterContinental Hotel, right in the heart of Prague 1. If you are looking for a romantic and fancy dinner under the stars, this place is for you! The views of Old Town are exceptional. They also offer Sunday brunches.

18 • Lucerna Rooftop

Offering unique views on the city center, the Lucerna rooftop is a locals’ favorite during the summertime. The roof is like a garden where flowers, trees, and even grass are growing! It costs 100 CZK to get up there and if you want to organize an exclusive event in Prague, you can book the place for organized group tours.

Sometimes, they have special events on the rooftop such as yoga lessons, exhibitions or cultural events.

The Lucerna Rooftop is only open from June until the end of October on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (from 3 PM until dusk)

Location: Pasáž Lucerna, 110 00 Nové Město

19 • Žižkov TV Tower

I kept this one for last because I felt compelled to put it on the list. Even though I wasn’t really astonished by the views, it is a favorite amongst tourists. The Žižkov TV Tower is unquestionably the main landmark in the Žižkov area and the tallest building in the city. If you go up, for 250 CZK (or 180 CZK if you are a student) you can see a panoramic view of all Prague. There is a restaurant on top of the tower and also a one-room hotel! Considered one of the most unique hotels in the city, you will literally be the only guests if you go there. Rather unusual right?

The Žižkov TV Tower is opened every day from 9 AM until midnight.

Location: Mahlerovy sady 1, 130 00 Žižkov

View from the Žižkov TV Tower
